I am now officially a Family History Support Missionary. However I have 2 months of training before I get to actually help anyone which is good.
I have wanted to serve a mission but knew I couldn't go on a traditional one. So I can now serve a mission and not leave home.
It has been interesting getting ready to begin. I had to upgrade my internet and my computer's RAM. Today I got an e-mail with 20 pages of instructions on how to set my computer up with the support tools.
I begin my training September 8. This is a new adventure for me and a step just out of my comfort zone. I have had a lot of time to do things since I retired but now I will have to get organized because I will be spending 4 hours a day for 4 to 5 days a week.
I will be serving for 18 months. I figured I might as well do that amount after all the training.
I know I will receive blessings for this mission and a lot of help from the Spirit.

New member of the Littlefield clan
I got to meet my new sister-in-law this past weekend. My brother Kay, lost his wife to cancer last year and has remarried. They live in North Carolina so I hadn't met Beth until now. It is great to see my brother happy again. The loss of Ann was very hard on him and the family.
Beth is wonderful. She is younger than all of my sibs but if she doesn't mind neither do I.

Spring has finally come to Panguitch. The snow has melted but the wind is still blowing. I was sitting on my front deck this afternoon and watched as a dust devil made a direct hit on me. My cats scattered, I held my book down and waited for the wind to go next door. It was a powerful little devil.
Trees are finally starting to bud and my bulbs are sprouting. I love spring when I can check all my green things and see who survived the winter. My rhubarb is even starting to grow. Rhubarb always reminds me of my Mother. She made a wonderful rhubarb and strawberry pie. I never learned how to make it and even if I had it wouldn't be as good as hers.

Well, now I have created my blog. I don't have that much going on in my life but I guess it is time to join the blogging world.
I'm looking forward to spring but in Panguitch spring usually comes about May if at all.
Retirement is a wonderful thing. I have been retired 7 years now and am still keeping busy. The nice thing is that I can stop and smell the roses. If I want to sit and read or play the piano or watch television, I can.
I get tired of people saying the cliche, " You don't know how you had time to work". When I worked that was what I did. But when I retired I was able to spend more time with the things I like to do and have been waiting to do. Like family history, orgainizing the DUP Museum, reading, taking classes and working on crafts.
The main thing that my family and friends know about me is that I have a lot of cats - 10 to be exact. As my mother used to say, they are not all house cats. They are all fixed so they are not producing. They are interesting and they all have their own personalities. Of course they view me as their servant and cat butler. I am there at their beck and call.
I guess I can ramble on since I don't know that anyone will read this.
